Forestry Equipment Your Christmas Tree Should Fear 

As the popular saying goes “boys love their toys”—and who can blame them! We are working constantly on refining and improving our tires, to ensure our customer gets the most  technologically advanced, highest-performing, and longest-lasting off-highway tire on the market. It’s easy for us to keep our eyes focused on the ground, as we monitor a tire’s compaction, flotation, and inflation, but every now and then we pick our heads up and remember that we outfit some truly outrageous machinery. We would love to see any of the machines listed below underneath our Christmas tree this year, and we would also enjoy watching our tree tremble in terror at the sight of any of this awesome forestry equipment.

Finding a Career in the Forest

"One reason I would give for someone to pursue forestry is simple," says John Bischoff, a Utility Arborist for Great Lakes Energy, "they can get paid to play in trees–something they did for fun as a kid. Plus, having the forest as your office most of the day is pretty amazing too."

California’s big trees are disappearing. A new study has found that the number of trees larger than two feet in diameter has decreased by 50 percent throughout 46,000 square miles of California forests. While it’s convenient to blame logging and housing for their disappearance, the truth is that water shortages and climate change might be the real culprit. An event almost as large as the legend, the Official Paul Bunyan Show—organized by the Ohio Forestry Association Inc.—is one of the most celebrated forestry industry shows in the eastern United States. Started in 1957, it is also thought to be the oldest forestry industry show of its kind in the eastern United States.
