Young People Finding Careers in Agriculture and Farming

Last week we discussed the farming industry and some of the factors that have led to a decrease in the farm workforce. While there is no easy or overnight solution to the immediate problems, the news is not all bad -especially for bright young and ambitious career seekers. In this week's blog we'll look at the excitement, challenge, variability and fun that a career in agriculture can provide.

It's encouraging to see young professionals choosing farming as a career path, whether it’s a legacy takeover of a multi-generation farm, or a new face looking to grow a business in agriculture. The next generation of farmers is looking at the difficulties before them and viewing them as opportunities, rather than infringements. They will come with advanced degrees, new innovative methodology, entrepreneurial and creative marketing skills, and they will be the millennial pioneers ushering in a new age of farming.

Earth Day: From Small Local Event to Global Movement 

Today is Earth Day! The largest secular observance in the world, more than 2 billion people a year celebrate Earth Day. This year’s observance is focusing on Trees for the Earth, and as manufacturers of Alliance and Primex forestry tires, we are deeply committed to developing tire technology to preserve the healthy growth, development, and sustainable use of our planet's fragile forests.

International Day of Forests 

On March 21 this year, many countries around the world will celebrate the United Nations International Day of Forests—a day devoted to celebrating and raising awareness of the importance of all types of forests and of trees outside forests, and of the importance of all types of forest ecosystems to sustainable development. This year's events will focus on raising awareness of how forests are key to the planet’s supply of freshwater, which is essential for life.

In the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt, an energetic supporter of the U.S. National Parks movement,  “A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air, and giving fresh strength to our people.” 

Visit Us at the Mid-America Trucking Show

We will be at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) showing our line of Aeolus MRT Tires for which we are the sole U.S. Distributor. MATS is the largest heavy-duty trucking show of the year, and is taking place between March 31 and April 2 in Louisville, KY. Always as fun as it is informative, MATS has opportunities to rub elbows with industry leaders, check out the latest and greatest equipment, and to unwind at great events with your peers.
