Large farm tires can explode with devastating—even deadly—force. Lifting tires weighing hundreds of pounds, or jacking up machinery weighing tons, is dangerous work. That's why tire service needs to be done by professionals...professionals who have had safety training like the industry-developed package we're giving away to our dealers free.
Alliance Tire Americas is helping advance tire tech safety by providing farm tire dealerships with the Tire Industry Association’s (TIA) Basic Farm Tire Service program. Their program teaches industry standards and approved methods for servicing large tires safely.
We probably all know people who've been injured on the job. Maybe you've been hurt, or had a near-miss yourself. There is the potential for too many accidents in dealing with large ag tires. If we can help every one of our dealers' employees have a safer and more productive experience at work, we’ve really accomplished something important.
That's why we are providing free training kits (which normally cost about $300) to all new dealers and distributors who sell Alliance, Galaxy or Primex farm tires. Alliance has already given kits to more than two dozen dealers. It's a way for us to contribute to our customers’ success—and safety.
The great TIA training kit covers a wide range of safety topics, including:
- Roadside service safety
- Reading tire and rim nomenclature for proper inflation
- Equipment inspection
- Lifting different kinds of farm and construction machinery
- Safe demount, mount and inflate procedures for a wide range of tires
- Managing ballast
- Proper handling of hydraulic tools
Every bit of the program delivers information that can save a life. It's worth watching the modules, even for those of us who have been in the tire business for years.
The training kit giveaway program is a win-win for everyone involved. It helps dealers keep their operations and employees safe, and know that they’re being proactive and doing all they can to promote a safe workplace. And for us, it's a way we can demonstrate that our relationships with dealers are about more than just great tires—they're about the people in our great industry.
