Off Track: Why Choose Tires Over Tracks

Tires vs. Tracks

John Deere or Case? Ford or Chevy? Tire or tracks?  After decades of discussion, farmers still disagree over the appropriate answers to these questions. While we won’t weigh in on Deere vs. Case or Ford vs. Chevrolet, we do have an opinion (although it might be a bit biased) about the superiority of tires to tracks and we’re pretty sure that, after reading this, you’ll agree that tires are equal to or exceed tracks in performance, while costing substantially less.

Tire Tales: Too Much Tractor Tire

Why the Biggest Tire Isn't Always the Best Tire

The trend for agricultural machinery to become increasingly large and powerful might lead farmers to believe that bigger is always better. Though larger machines frequently lead to increases in overall productivity, having the biggest tires may, in fact, reduce the efficiency of your farm equipment. Recently, I helped a customer dispel the mistaken belief that “bigger is better” by outfitting their tractor with the tire size they needed to optimize performance and avoid the other pitfalls that could arise out of “over-tiring” your equipment.

Is IF/VF the Future of Farm Tires?

Since the development and introduction of IF, then VF, tire technology nearly a decade ago, more and more farmers have been using them as a way to offset withering profits caused by low commodity prices and increasing input costs. Farmers fighting against tighter profit margins can increase their yields with high-tech tires like our AgriFlex line of IF/VF tires, and now the question begs to be asked: are IF/VF the future of farm tires?

Why IF/VF Tires are Being Developed

The Reason for IF/VF Tires

In recent years, the sight of IF/VF tires in the field has become increasingly common. It should come as no surprise that as the adoption of IF/VF technology climbs, so do the offerings featuring this innovative technology from us and the industry as a whole. Although the industry is quick to preach the benefits of IF/VF tires, to truly appreciate what these tires are capable of doing, you need to know why they were developed in the first place.

Explaining the Engineering of an IF/VF Tire

Engineering an IF/VF Tire

A lot goes into making an IF/VF tire and even more goes into making one that performs up to our exacting standards. Check out this great video, where Field Engineer Pat Gaston talks about the ins and outs of IF/VF tires, and what separates our tires from what our competitors have to offer.
