# Flotation Tires: From Farm to Forest
Though the cutting and harvesting of timber is the primary concern of logging operations, the protection of the forest floor from heavy equipment is also a priority for forward-thinking operations. Increasingly large and powerful logging machinery could cause damage to the ground and rip up the root map, slowing the time it takes for the forest to regenerate, reducing the rate of biomass production (resulting in less income), and making landowners unhappy. Fortunately for loggers—and forests—the use of flotation forestry tires is a simple way to minimize compaction and rutting.

# Maximizing Performance with Proper Tire Pressure
Compare a logging operation of today with those of the not-so-distant past and one thing is obvious—the machines on site have grown considerably in both size and power. While the need to increase operational productivity and efficiency is driving the adoption of larger, more powerful equipment, it is also presenting new challenges. # Alliance and Primex Forestry Tires and the Future of the Forest
On April 10, 1872, the seeds of Arbor Day were sown in Nebraska, a state more commonly associated with prairies than forests, when J. Sterling Morton proposed the idea of a day dedicated to planting trees. A million trees were planted in that state on the first Arbor Day, and the success of the event led to the celebration of Arbor Day in all 50 states. However, when we discuss the topic of planting trees, our thoughts drift to the role delicate woodland soils and our tires play in the growth of trees.
