As we head toward the beginning of August, farmers from all over the Midwest are getting excited for IDEAg Minnesota Farmfest, the state’s largest outdoor farm show, and the nation's third-largest outdoor farm show. Taking place on August 2nd-4th in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Farmfest has been running for over 30 years and has become a Midwest tradition. A summer staple, Minnesota Farmfest is the place to be for farmers looking to listen to captivating speakers, engage in political discussions, meet vendors, and network with fellow farmers.

With more than 500 vendors expected, you can be sure to see the greatest in farming technology and equipment at this year's event. Whether it's a tractor, a drone, or an input advancement, IDEAg Minnesota Farmfest is where you’ll see agricultural innovation in action. More than just being able to see new technology up close, attendees can also meet with product experts and determine how the technology can benefit their farms.
There will be numerous educational seminars and talks on the topic of innovation in agriculture this year and Tuesday, August 2nd will be Ag Innovator’s Day. This year will feature a series of "FRED talks"(Farmer Rancher Education), with Steve Peterson, retired Director of Sourcing and Sustainability for General Mills, speaking about food and agriculture transitioning into the future, as well as congressional candidates, and presentations from Minnesota’s 4-H Science of Ag Challenge.
Thursday, August 4th will be Farm Families Day at IDEAg Minnesota Farmfest, highlighted by the Farm Family of the Year Recognition Program and sponsored by the University of Minnesota Extension. For more than 20 years, this program has honored the contributions these families make to the agriculture industry as well as their local communities. This year's event will honor roughly 70 families, naming them “2016 Farm Family of the Year.”
