On March 21 this year, many countries around the world will celebrate the United Nations International Day of Forests—a day devoted to celebrating and raising awareness of the importance of all types of forests and of trees outside forests, and of the importance of all types of forest ecosystems to sustainable development. This year's events will focus on raising awareness of how forests are key to the planet’s supply of freshwater, which is essential for life.
In the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt, an energetic supporter of the U.S. National Parks movement, “A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air, and giving fresh strength to our people.”
Today, forests cover about one-third of the world's land mass and roughly 1.6 billion people depend on it for their livelihoods, including 2,000 indigenous cultures. The healthy and sustainable use of the world's fragile forests is extremely important to us, and we uphold those values through the care we take developing our world-renowned line of Primex and Alliance forestry tires. Simply put, we're committed to being a leader in pioneering healthy and sustainable forestry practices for this and future generations.
We purpose build tires to increase the efficiency and productivity of the logger, while simultaneously reducing the impact that heavy machinery has on the forest floor’s delicate soils. Tires like the Primex LogMonster allow loggers to get through the most difficult terrain and work in the harshest conditions with minimal slippage and less tearing up of the forest floor—allowing foresters to harvest much-needed timber while doing their utmost to protect the future of the forest.
More than providing a home, a business, and a place for recreation to the people of the world, the forest is home to more than 80% of the planet's terrestrial species of animals, plants, and insects. Much of that life is in the top few inches of the soil, where fungi, microbes, and insects create the web of life that supports the forest. For operating in delicate soils that creatures call home, the Primex LogStomper Super Floatation HF-4 is perfect. The Primex LogStomper Super Floatation is a gentle giant, capable of handling the most challenging terrain and conditions on the largest and most powerful machinery, but at the same time maintaining a delicate footprint, minimizing damage done to the forest’s soil web.
On March 21, the International Day of Forests, encourages global citizens to remember all the positive ways forests impact our lives, and how important it is to maintain these forests for generations to come. You can bet that our world-class engineering and R&D folks will be in the lab and in the woods working to make our forestry tires perform even better while lessening their impact and helping to improve the way we steward and maintain the world’s precious forests and timberland resources.
