The Alliance Multiuse 550 has provided outstanding performance in Australia on a huge variety of farm and municipal machinery for Years. Now It’s Time for the 550 to take its place as the most versatile and durable multi-use tire in the U.S. as well. We're doubling down on our commitment to this unique block-tread tire by expanding its range of sizes to fit not only telehandlers, backhoes, and tractors, but also skid steers.
As National Sales Manager of Tyres4U, one of Australia's largest tire distributors, I have been a huge fan of Alliance brand tires for the last 10 years. Six years ago when we saw the launch of the Alliance 550 with its special tread design, we were truly excited and we knew it would be a huge success, solidifying the Alliance brand’s position as a leader in the high-performance off-road tire segment. During my time at Tyres4U, the 550 became the #1 tire choice for cities and governments—bodies that had roadside grass cutters or roadside tractors—purely because of the benefits this great tire offers.
I remember thinking at the time, “Why stop there?” So we tested the 550s on a few different applications with great results. We fit the tires onto anything from contractor combines traveling on interstates, towed spreaders, self-propelled sprayers, backhoes and tractors, to sugar-cane bins, road rollers, and towed implements—and they outperformed standard tractor tires two to one.
The 550's directional block design offers unique benefits that standard tractor tires simply can’t. The tread has a middle row of blocks giving it a smooth ride and has blocks on the side angled for traction. It's capable of achieving high-speed and carrying heavy loads both on the road or in the field. Steel belts in the tread area give the tire a squarer, flatter footprint while also giving extra protection from punctures. The sidewall design has a high bead turn-up, offering the driver more stability on hillsides and in gullies.
The wear we saw on these tires was unbelievable, with drivers experiencing double the tire life when compared to a standard tire. This was especially true on machines being run on the road at high speeds and driven on hard surfaces. Because of its design, the 550 wears evenly and there is far more rubber on the ground, offering great flotation and reducing soil compaction.
Since I moved to the U.S. to take up the role of product manager, have traveled extensively and seen more of the country than many who were born here. In that time I’ve seen opportunities in abundance for the Alliance 550 to give U.S. owners the major benefits I saw in Australia (better traction, better wear, smoother ride and above all versatility.) All while giving machine owners a lower total cost of ownership.
This is my big American push—to get the Alliance MultiUse 550 tire deeper into the American market and to prove that this is truly a multiuse tire—and that the benefits will exceed owners expectations, just like they did with my customers in Australia.
The Alliance MultiUse 550 comes in a range of sizes that covers the majority of tractors, telehandlers, and backhoe equipment in the U.S. market.
