**Colorado schools support local farmers.** On September 30, the [Colorado Department of Agriculture](https://www.colorado.gov/agmain) held the Colorado Proud School Meal Day. Emphasizing the importance of eating healthy and locally grown foods, the event encouraged schools across the state to use Colorado-grown foods in their meals. Celebrating local agriculture and teaching kids about healthy eating habits, this event reached more than 100,000 students in 600+ schools. **Sales from organic farms are up 72%** from 2008 according to the results of the [USDA’s](http://www.nass.usda.gov/) 2014 Organic Survey. California farms led the nation with 2.2 billion dollars contributing to a nationwide total of 5.5 billion dollars worth of organic products sold in 2014. Organic farming doesn’t seem to be slowing down; according to the report, 5,300 organic producers (39%) are planning on expanding their organic production over the next five years and another 688 farms with no current organic production are in the process of transitioning into organic agriculture production. **Restored tractor brings in big bucks at auction**. A restored 1963 IHC 560 pulling tractor sold for $10,250 at a western Pennsylvania auction. Barry has been in marketing and public relations for more than 20 years, working with companies like Travelocity, Weight Watchers, Weider Nutrition and many others to communicate product benefits to customers around the world. Since joining Alliance Tire he is working to develop an intimate knowledge of the agriculture, construction and forestry markets by getting out on the road and meeting customers wherever possible. He is a marketing strategist with experience developing, managing and evaluating programs that drive traffic, lead acquisition and nurturing, and sales. When he’s not out at a tractor pull or at a customer show, Barry is headquartered in Wakefield, MA and he spends his off hours with his family, trying to get to the mountains for a hike or camping, or hitting the gym.
